Silver coins with the name of Tin-Sufi b. Mansur on
their reverses can be divided into two groups. Dangs
of the first group with the name and title of Emir Din-Sufi were published by
Yu.V. Zayonchkovsky in Ch.M. Frähn had known the coins of the second group in the 1st
third of 19th century, later these dangs
were once and again published by different researchers without reading the legend of reverse.
The authors suggest reading this legend as “Tin-Sufi b. Mansour”.
The information about 22 coins of this group struck by 5 die pairs (4 obverse
and 3 reverse dies) was detected in scientific literature and numismatic
collections. The average weight of coins of this group is It can be presumed that the
issue of silver coins with the name of Amir Tin-Sufi b. Mansur on the
reverse, published in the paper, and, accordingly, the fact that he held the
post of beylerbey under Khan Mahmud b. Muhammad b. Timur can be dated back to the end of the 1450s — the first half of the 1460s. |
