No. 19 Vagif Asadov (Baku, Azerbaijan), Shamil Najafov (Baku, Azerbaijan) ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH OF THE MEDIEVAL CASTLE OF KERPIJLITEPE AND ITS SURROUNDINGS (AZERBAIJAN REPUBLIC) The medieval Kerpijlitepe Castle is located in the Goranboy District of Azerbaijan at an altitude of 08—210 m above sea level. To the north, the castle is bordered by arable land. Visual inspection indicates that the castle was once surrounded by buildings. A ravine formed by a dried-up riverbed lies to the south. The terrain is flat. This article discusses the castle's architectural and structural features, its structure, the cultural and trade connections of its inhabitants, and the results of an analysis of artifacts discovered in Kerpijlitepe Castle.
